1. Do you have a Driving Range?
-We have a full size putting green that can be used for chipping and pitching as well as hitting cages with complimentary balls to allow you to loosen up prior to your round. We also have a number of weighted clubs and training aids for your use. We do not have a driving range. 2. What are your Rates? -Monday through Thursday green fees are $175*, and Friday through Sunday green fees are $225*. 3. Is this a Public Golf Course and can anybody play here? -We are public golf course. Anyone that wants to enjoy what Monarch Beach has to offer is invited. 4. How old is the Golf Course? -The golf course was constructed in 1983. The clubhouse was built in 1997, and there was an extensive golf course renovation in 2001. 5. Where can I get something to Drink or Eat? -We have three food and beverage outlets. For our golfing guests, we have our snack bar, which is located next to the 5th green. It is accessible before you tee off and after holes 5 and 9. We also offer a beverage cart service on our back nine with beverages and snack foods. Golfers and non-golfing guests alike can enjoy golf and ocean views at Club 19, which has a full breakfast and lunch menu and full service bar. 6. Do you have an Afternoon Rate and what time does it start? -We have an afternoon rate, which is $110 Monday through Thursday and $140 Friday through Sunday. It starts at 1:00pm in the fall and winter months and 2:00pm in the spring and summer months. We also have a sunset rate which starts at 2:30pm in the fall and winter months and 3:30pm in the spring and summer months and is $85 Monday through Thursday and $110 Friday through Sunday. Our Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer schedules follow with the Daylight Saving schedule. 7. How long does it take to play the course? -Our golf course typically takes about 4 hours and 20 minutes to complete 18 holes. Due to the difficult nature of our front nine, it typically splits at 2 hours and 20 minutes to play, while our back nine usually completes in about 2 hours. 8. How far in advance can I make a tee time? -Reservations may be made 14 days in advance for no extra cost. For an additional $15 per player, tee times may be made up to 30 days in advance. Resort guests may book up to 60 days in advance. 9. Do you have any memberships? -Being a public facility, we do not have any memberships. We do have a players club called the Monarch Beach Links Club, which is limited to 400 members and runs for a calendar year. 10. Do you rent Clubs/Shoes and how much does it cost? -We currently rent clubs only. We have three different types of Callaway rental clubs: Callaway X18 irons, Big Bertha Titanium driver and Big Bertha Titanium fairway woods. The Callaway sets are available in graphite or steel shaft irons for men, graphite shafted driver and ladies sets that are all graphite. Costs for the graphite rentals are $65, steel irons with graphite driver are $55 and all sets include a Callaway Golf Pouch with two sleeves of Big Bertha Golf balls. 11. Where is the Bathroom/Locker Room? -We have four different restroom locations on property. There is our locker room, which is located adjacent to the clubhouse next to Club 19. We have restrooms on the lower level of the clubhouse as well. We also have on-course facilities located at our snack bar at #5 and #9, and at #15 green. 12. Where is the Posting Computer? -As an SCGA member facility, we have our handicap-posting computer located in our golf shop on the right hand side near the front door. If you would be interested in establishing your handicap, please inquire in the golf shop. 13. Do you have a Senior Rate? -Currently we do offer a senior rate Monday - Thursday. Seniors are classified as individuals over the age of 55. The rate is $105 and reservations may be made no more than three days in advance. The Senior Rate is a promotional rate that we evaluate on a month-to-month basis and is subject to cancellation or adjustment in price at any time. 14. How long is the Golf Course and who designed it? -The golf course is a Robert Trent Jones, Jr. Par 70 design and with the renovation in 2001 was extended to 6,601 yards from our championship tees. 15. Who owns the Course and Hotel and is there any affiliation? -The golf course and hotel are both owned by Makar Properties, but operate as two separate entities. Monarch Beach Golf Links is operated by Troon Golf, the leader in upscale golf management, and the hotel is operated by St. Regis Hotels. 16. How many holes are on or near the ocean? -There are two holes located directly on the coastline: our signature 3rd hole and 4th hole. In addition, there is a view of the ocean on all 18 holes here at Monarch Beach. 17. Do you have a Dress Code? -Proper attire is required at Monarch Beach. For men, this means a collared shirt with Bermuda-length shorts or slacks. For women, this means a collared shirt or golf blouse with medium length shorts, skirt, or slacks. Denim of any kind, t-shirts, and sweat clothes are prohibited. We are also a soft-spike only facility. 18. Do your golf carts have the GPS on them? -We are proud to offer all guest the use of the ParView GPS system at Monarch Beach. 19. Do you allow Five-Somes? -We do not allow five-somes under regular playing conditions. 20. Do you provide golf lessons and what is the cost? -Certified PGA affiliated instructors provide golf instruction. Long game lesson times are available at 7:30am, 8:30am, 2:00pm, and 3:00pm daily. All long game lessons are conducted on the golf course itself. Short game lessons are available any time of day. Lesson rates range from $65-100 per hour depending on the instructor.
