Southern California PGA and Monarch Beach Golf Links to Host Fundraiser Tournament benefiting PGA HOPE
ONTARIO, California (April 22, 2024) The Southern California PGA (SCPGA), in partnership with Monarch Beach Golf Links, is proud to host a fundraiser tournament benefiting PGA HOPE (Helping Our Patriots Everywhere) in Southern California. The event is scheduled to take place on Monday, May 13th, at Monarch Beach Golf Links, with proceeds directly supporting the expansion of SCPGA HOPE programming that provides services to Military members in the region.
The fundraiser tournament at Monarch Beach Golf Links presents an opportunity for golf enthusiasts to support a worthy cause while enjoying a day on the course. Participants can expect a day filled with camaraderie, competition, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the lives of Veterans and Active Duty Military personnel.
Renowned for his multifaceted talents and acclaimed performances, actor Neal McDonough, celebrated for his portrayal in the iconic military drama “Band of Brothers,” will be on-site as a celebrity VIP guest for the event. Since his compelling depiction of Lynn (Buck) Compton in the revered HBO series, McDonough has emerged as a fervent advocate for military service members and supports all causes related to both active duty and veteran personnel.
“The SCPGA is deeply committed to serving our military community, and events like our Monarch Beach Golf Links PGA HOPE fundraiser tournament exemplify the profound impact golf can have on the lives of Veterans and Active Duty Military personnel,” said SCPGA President Eric Lohman, PGA, who serves as the General Manager at Monarch Beach.
PGA HOPE, the flagship military program of PGA REACH, the charitable foundation of the PGA of America, is dedicated to enhancing the physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being of Veterans and Active Duty Military personnel through the game of golf.
Over 25 facilities in the SCPGA Section are currently involved in the program which introduces golf through a developmental 6-8 week curriculum, led by PGA Professionals trained in adaptive golf techniques and military cultural competency. Thanks to funding provided by PGA REACH and supplemented by PGA Section Foundations through events like these, all programs are offered free of charge to Veterans, ensuring accessibility for all.
To date, the SCPGA has supported over 700 veterans and is on pace to provide over 1,000 lessons in 2024. To support this program, visit scpgafoundation.com/pga-hope, or for any questions contact Amberlynn Dorsey, PGA at adorsey@pgahq.com.
